Ice Prince

Ice Prince is a stage name of the famous Nigerian hip-hopper Panshak Zamani who was born in 1986 in Minna. When the future star was two, his family moved to Jos where Panshak was attending St. Murumba College and Science Tutorial College. His music career began in school. He was writing rap songs and performing them during various school events. In 2001 Panshak recorded some of his songs and he was quite successful because his name became recognizable among pupils. In 2002, Ice Prince established a musical group with his friends. The group was titled “Ecomog Squad”. In 2004 they joined another rap group and became known as “Loopy Crew”. At that time Panshak also was singing in the church choir.

Ice Prince’s debut single “Extraordinary” was released in 2004 and it reached top-7 of Nigerian hip-hop chart. In 2009 the young rapper decided to take part in the Hennessy competition led by the legendary alcohol brand. Panshak Zamani performed the song “Badman” which won the contest. The next year his debut album was released, titled “Everybody Loves Ice Prince”. The first single of the album “Oleku” was acclaimed by the fans all over the country and the young hip-hoper was becoming popular. The album was released under Chocolate City company which Panshak signed a contract in 2004 with. The second Ice Prince’s album was released in 2013 and it was titled “Fire of Zamani”. The hip-hop star used his real last name in the title. The first single of the album “Aboki” was included into the top 100 Afribiz’s chart reaching the 92nd position. Other singles like “More”, “Gimme Dat” and “V.I.P.” from this album were also extremely popular.

Ice Prince music is often influenced by the events of his life. For example, the second album was released when the young star’s mother passed away and everybody tried to support him. Now Panshak is working on his next album titled “Trash Can EP” which is supposed to be released this year. Besides, Ice Prince has appeared on TV – in 2013 he acted in films “House of Gold” and “Shuga”. Panshak Zamani has been nominated to many awards and won. The last one was the Best Rap Act of the Year obtained in 2015. Ice Prince’s success is still gaining momentum because his career is still developing and he is able to reach more peaks in music.
