Wande Coal

Wande Coal is a stage name of a famous Nigerian singer and song writer Oluwatobi Ojosipe who was born in 1985 in Lagos. His childhood and youth were spent in Lagos where he had obtained primary and secondary education and then entered University of Lagos for studying curriculum subjects. As the most future famous stars Wande started singing in the local church choir and also tried himself in dancing in various night clubs. In 2006 Wande Coal joined ‘Mo’ Hits records for improving his vocals. This collaboration helped the young star to make some important acquaintances and to make first steps to the show business. In 2007 the compilation album “Curriculum Vitae” was released and Wande Coal songs from this album were acclaimed by critics and fans. The single “Ololufe” was Wande’s debut one and it was called the best love Nigerian song. The single brought Wande Coal popularity and fame throughout the country. “Ololufe” reached top 10 of the Nigerian hip-hop chart. In 2008 the Wande Coal’s debut album was released. It was titled “Mohits 2 Mavin” and this album was well received not only in Nigeria but also in Britain and in the USA therefore Wande got world fame. The most popular singles from this album were “Bamper2Bamper”, “You Bad”, “Taboo” and “Who Born the Maga”. All the singles were included in top-100 of the Nigerian, US and UK hip-hop charts.

The next album was released in 2012 titled “Solar Plexus” and this album was also compilation. Wande Coal released three singles from the album – “See Mi Ri”, “Forever” and “Pretty Girls”. The last song became the most successful. In 2013 he released the single “Rotate” and “Baby Face”. Wande Coal music is popular and the young Nigerian artist obtained several awards for his performances. The most prestigious are Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, African Artist of the Year and some others. Songs Baby Face  and Ololufe by Wande Coal are considered as the most popular performances of the talented Nigerian singer. Wande Coal has just begun his professional career and success is ahead. The young star is supposed to achieve the highest peaks and to become one of the best Nigerian singers. Wande represents such music styles as hip-hop, pop and R&B music. Most of his songs are written in English but there some written in Yoruba which are even more acclaimed by the local fans. Coal’s popularity continues increasing and a lot of stars want to collaborate with him in creating of songs.
