Alleged richest and most wanted kidnapper in Nigeria arrested

Nigeria’s most wanted kidnapper, ticked to be the richest among such alleged criminals has been arrested in Magodo area of Lagos state, western Nigeria.

Evans, as he is simply called, was reportedly arrested inside his palatial mansion in the estate by men of the Nigeria Police Force under the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team led by Assistant Commissioner Abba Kyari.

The police described Evans as one of the most brilliant, but notorious high-profile kidnapper in the history of Nigeria.

The suspect, who is from Anambra, is reportedly believed to have made several billions of naira leading and coordinating others in his team.

It was learnt that he was arrested after a gun duel with the police.

Kyari said: “IRT headquarters in Abuja is celebrating the arrest of the most wanted brilliant and notorious high-profile kidnapper in Nigeria.

“He has collected several billions of Naira as ransom in the last seven years as the kingpin of kidnappers.

“He was arrested at about 1:00pm on Saturday in his residence in Magodo Estate, Lagos.”

Kyari commended the team of policemen who carried out the operation adding that the suspect would be paraded before journalists on Sunday, June 11.
