Armed robbers on Wednesday evening attacked a group of officials of the National Emergency Management Agency and journalists n their way to assess the flooding of Fugar, a town in Edo State.
Spokesman for the agency, Yushau Shuaib, who broke the news in an SMS to PUNCH, said the team was ambushed on Okene-Auchi Road.
He, however, noted that vigilance groups in the area confronted the robbers, resulting in the death of one person.
He gave the assurance that the NEMA Director-General, Mohammad Sani-Sidi, would still visit the town.
The NEMA officials have been on assessment of flooded areas in Kogi and Edo states.
