N60bn realized so far from subsidy removal - Iweala

Coordinating Minister of Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, said over N60 billion has so far been accrued to Federal Government account after the withdrawal of fuel subsidy in the country.

She said this on Thursday during the launching of Subsidy Re-investment and Empowerment Program (SURE-P) in Minna, Niger State, saying government was committed in creating 370,000 jobs under the SURE-P across the country.

She said 10,000 jobs were expected to be created in each of the 36 states and FCT by the Federal Government in collaboration with the states and local governments councils.

In his remarks, Niger State Governor, Dr. Babangida Aliyu said the visit signified the formal flag-up of SURE- P scheme in the state which has 300 participants drawn from five local governments.
