Tips To Prevent Dry Skin

Keep a diary to help you spot the causes of dry skin. Medications such as antihistamines can cause skin to feel tight and dry. Alcohol and smoking is a big culprit of dehydrated skin as are lengthy hot showers, air conditioning and heaters.

Tips To Prevent Dry Skin

Check out tips below

• Use gentle skin care products such as soap-free washes, alcohol-free toner, fragrance-free skin creams, and treat your skin with respect.

• Wear sunscreen all year round to address one of the most common causes of dry, dehydrated skin and skin ageing.

• Use an exfoliating scrub and a hydrating facial mask once or twice a week to give your skin that added boost of moisture.

• Boost your moisture levels by cutting down on excessively long hot baths or showers and reducing the amount of diuretics you drink.

• Drink plenty of water throughout the day.

• Avoid anything that makes your symptoms worse, including sweating – be careful not to overdress during warmer weather;  strong soaps or detergents, as well as chemicals and solvents; sudden changes in body temperature or stress, which may cause you to sweat and make your condition worse.

• Bathe less often and keep water contact as brief as possible. Short, cooler baths are better than long, hot baths.

•Use gentle skin care cleansers instead of regular soaps. Only use them on your face, underarms, genital areas, hands, and feet.

•Do not scrub or dry the skin too hard or for too long.

•After bathing, apply lubricating creams, lotions, or ointments on the skin while it is still damp. This will help trap moisture in the skin.
