New Niger Delta militant group warns Buhari over MEND

- President Muhammadu Buhari has been told to desist from entering into any form of negotiation with Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND)

- Niger Delta Volunteers (NDV), a newly established militant group issued the warning message to the nation’s president

- NDV praised elder statesman Chief Edwin Clark over the role he has played at resolving the regional unrest

Niger Delta Volunteers (NDV), a newly formed militant group, has issued a threat message to President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration not give attention to leaders of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND).

The militant group stated that MEND does not exist again. NDV revealed this on Friday, September 2 in a statement signed by the group’s public relations officer, Commander Ekpo Ekpo.

Ekpo released the statement to journalists at Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.

The militant group praised Chief Edwin Clark for his singular commitment at bringing together ethnic groups for ethnic unification and synergy aimed at solving the chaos in the Niger Delta area however, threatened that any form of negotiation must not be another round of past empty dialogue which indicated that only fruitless results were gotten.

The group stated that crude oil which led to problems of the people of Niger Delta region, saying: “so the flow of oil must stop if we must stop the woes of the Niger Delta people.”

NDV stated: “We are aware that the original MEND is DEAD and no longer in operation or existence and we already know the 5th columnists and the moles in the NIGER DELTA, that have avail themselves to our oppressors to act as obstacles to the efforts of Chief Edwin Clark and the Traditional Rulers of the NIGER DELTA.

“The ex-militants that have made themselves as moles. They should know that we are very much aware of their roles, and their locations. We are using this medium to warn them to desist or face our personnel manhunt on them in Abuja and Lagos.

“Government should desist from listening to the fake MEND that is being represented by those ex-militants Leaders that are craving for attention.”

On Thursday, September 1 in a news report, some Niger Delta youths outlined six factors that will help engulfed rule of law, check and balance power across Nigeria.
