Busted: Kidnap syndicate arrested in Benue state

- Police in Benue state have apprehended a 34-year-old man for abduction of four children

- The suspect who confessed to the crime, reveals he has been into the business since 2013

The Benue state police command have arrested a 34-year-old man, identified as Adejo Ogiri for the abduction of one Miracle Jacob in Otukpo area of the state.

According to media reports, the suspect, Ogiri who was paraded by the State Security Council on Wednesday, August 31, in Makurdi, confessed to have kidnapped four children from various locations in the state and sold them for various amount to buyers in eastern part of the country.

"I have been doing the business since 2013. So far, I have kidnapped four children and sold them for various amount. The highest money that I have been paid per child is N1million. It was the kidnap of Miracle Jacob that led to my arrest", he said.

In a related development, two suspected kidnappers was arrested with a bag containing the sum of four hundred and thirty nine thousand Naira and some personal items.

According to the army spokesman, Col. Sani Usman, investigation showed that the amount was their share from a ransom paid by a recent kidnap incident.

The two suspected kidnappers; Dayibu Abdullahi and Nasiru Adamu were arrested by troops of 33 Brigade, Nigerian Army, at Badiko village along Gumau road, Toro, local government area, Bauchi state.
