According to police source, a car bomb linked to Al Shabaab terrorist group has killed five military men outside the president's palace at Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital and seriously destroyed two nearby hotels.

Reuters informants stated that gunshots were heard after the blast and a big screen of smoke was seen above the president's palace, which was outside were the remaining of the car and shattered blood.

“A suicide car bomb exploded outside the presidential palace. So far two hotels opposite the palace are partially destroyed,” a policeman named Major Mohamed Ali informed Reuters via telephone.

Al Qaeda related-Al Shabaab was said to be the mastermind for various and current blasts in the country’s capital as well as a car bomb and gun attack the previous week at a famous beach restaurant in the Mogadishi that led to the death of 10 people.

“So far we know five government soldiers died in the blast. It exploded outside the SYL hotel which is also just at the checkpoint outside the palace. We believe the target was SYL which is frequented by officials. The death toll may rise,” another policeman named Colonel Abdikadir Hussein informed Reuters.

Al Shabaab's Radio known as Andaluz reported that the group was the mastermind of the explosion.

In another attack, Al Shabaab militants attacked military bases housing government and African Union troops south west of the capital Mogadishu late on Monday, August 29 as the police and the group informed on Tuesday, August 30.

A soldier named Major Bile Farah stated that a military officer and two al Shabaab militants died in the attack in K-50 and Muri in Lower Shabelle region.

It was just Monday, August 29 that over 60 people were said to have died in a deadly suicide bombing attack on a military facility in Aden, the southern city of Yemen, middle-east.
