Former Governor of Abia State, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, has declared that the third term agenda of the former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo caused a rift in their relationship.
He also disclosed that Chief Obasanjo used his power then to cripple all his chain of businesses ranging from oil, airline, banking, and a host of others because of his opposition to the third term agenda.
Kalu said this, yesterday, as a guest speaker at the Equity Chambers’ 25th Anniversary lecture in honour of Professor U.A.Ijalaye of the Faculty of Law, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
He said that he nearly lost his life while working against the agenda which he described as anti-democracy.
Delivering his lecture entitled:”LEADERSHIP:Key Factor To a Better Nigeria”, the former presidential candidate on the platform of Progressive Peoples’ Alliance(PPA) in the 2007 Presidential election, maintained that all Nigerian leaders since independent were not prepared to lead the country, and said that they were always drafted into the race by the powers that be and noted that Nigeria needed a committed and focused leader to retrieve her from the brink of collapse.
