The Medical Director of the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital Kaduna, Taiwo Lateef Sheikh, on Tuesday said that over 100 people troop the hospital on daily basis with different psychiatric cases.
He lamented that psychiatric cases were on the increase as a result of the security challenge facing the country.
While explaining the negative effect of the strike embarked upon by the Medical Health Union and Association of Nurses and Midwifery, he said the strike will not only affect the patients that visit the hospital, but that it will also affect its progress and standard.
“I can tell you that with what is happening in the country, psychiatric cases are on the increase. Everyday, over 100 patients troop to this hospital over brain related problems. If you come here when the workers are not strike, you will think that it is a market. People who come here are not only those with mental disorder, even those with ailments such as frequent thinking, inability to sleep, fear, constant crying and many others that affect the brain come. With the insecurity situation, people can’t sleep properly,” he said.
