The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) has kick-started this year’s Christian Pilgrimage to Israel, Rome and Greece.

This is even as President Goodluck Jonathan has commended the Commission for its giant strides in advancing the cause of Christian Pilgrimage in Nigeria.

Jonathan gave the commendation in Lagos while flagging off the exercise in Abuja weekend.

The president, who was represented by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, stated that NCPC had made substantial progress in the effective administration of pilgrimage activities in Nigeria, noting that the NCPC had now move “from a small rented apartment to its own befitting corporate edifice”.

He explained that there was a time when pilgrims travelled to the Holy Land and quite a lot of them could not return home, but the NCPC, according to Jonathan, had brought abscondment to a zero level.

He stressed that the success story of NCPC should be a lesson for all those in government, as well as those in the private sector.
