Militants vow to attack Muslims

The Niger Delta Revolutionary Crusaders have threatened to carry out reprisal attacks on Muslims and mosques if Boko Haram kills Christians.

Militants in the Niger Delta region have declared war on Muslims in response to threats by new Boko Haram leader Musab Al-barnawi, to kill Christians and burn down churches in the north.

The Niger Delta Revolutionary Crusaders (NDRC), in a statement on Saturday, August 6, warned that Niger Delta youths would launch attack on any Muslim or mosque in the Niger Delta region if Boko Haram kill Christians or burn churches.

According to Vanguard, spokesperson of the militant group, W O I Izon-Ebi, described the mission by the new Boko Haram leader to kill all Christians and burn down all churches as an Islamization plot.

The group warned that Niger Delta youths in this 21st century will not accept killing of innocent Christians or burning of churches.

"If they try it in the north or any part of Nigeria, we the Niger Delta youths will not see any Muslim or mosque in the Niger Delta," it said.

We are not against President Buhari granting the Boko Haram amnesty if their sole purpose is to own an Islamic caliphate in the north, but they should mot shift it to the Niger Delta.”

“All we know and want is resource control and true federalism, if truly they believe in one Nigeria, and are working harder to build a prosperous One Nigeria, let them shift their Operation Crocodile Tears to the Fulani herdsmen and the Boko Haram that is threatening the unity and peace of Nigeria,” the group said.

Meanwhile, the proclamation by new Boko Haram leader, Musab Al-barnawi that the group’s new strategy will be to intensify attacks on Christians has sent fear among Christians living in the northern part of Nigeria.

According to Daily Post, churches and Christians in the north, particularly in Borno state, have been placed on alert, to avert attacks following Al-barnawi’s threats.

Some Christians in the north are already leaving in droves to avoid falling prey to attacks by the terrorists.
