One player who is aspiring to become a goal scoring great like late Rasheed Yekini, Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Obafemi Martins is definitely Oghenekaro Etebo.

The Edo state born striker is the new sensation in Nigerian football in terms of making the headlines with his art of scoring goals for the national team.

Etebo has set the pace with four goals at the ongoing Rio 2016 Olympics football event netting all four against Japan in Dream Team VI's 5-4 win in their first Group B match.

Here are five things that you should know about Etebo

1. Club career in Nigeria: The 20-year-old graduated from the Warri Wolves youth team to the first team and played top flight football from 2013 to 2015. Etebo scored a remarkable 23 goals in 64 appearances for the Seasiders in the Nigerian Professional Football League with Warri Wolves during his two-year spell.

2. European club: The starlet went for trials in 2014 to Serie A club Udinese but an agreement could not be reached and he returned to Warri Wolves.

In the January transfer window of 2016, the player moved from Warri Wolves to Portuguese club Feirense as a free agent playing four games and scoring three goals in cameo appearances.

3. U-23 team: Etebo is the most prolific scorer at the national U-23 level owing to his 11 goals in 17 games and he has been with the team all through the qualifying rounds to the CAF U-23 Africa Nations Cup in Senegal.

4. Super Eagles: The 20-year-old has shuttled the U-23 side and the Super Eagles when called to serve his fatherland. Etebo has played six matches scoring just one goal and a memorable one against Egypt in an AFCON qualifier at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kaduna.

5. Awards: The former Warri Wolves player has won two notable individual awards, one of which he bagged Most Valuable Player of the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations played in Senegal last year.

The other plaque was the Most Promising Talent of the Year in January 2016, owing to his exploits at the U-23 Nations Cup in December 2015.
