Fashola Challenges Judiciary Over National Development 4 years ago 1

Governor Babatunde Fashola, of Lagos State yesterday decried the socio-economic problems in the country and said the situation has placed a big responsibility and challenges at the door step of the nation’s judiciary.

Governor Fashola who gave a keynote address at the Lagos Central Mosque for the commemoration of the new legal year said the roles of the judiciary and judges cut across all human endeavours, thereby placing onerous task on their shoulders.

Also, Bishop of Lagos and Archbishop of Ecclesiastical Province of Lagos, The Most Rev. Adebola Ademowo at the church service held at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, disclosed that the country’s values are deteriorating fast.

The Bishop said lawlessness pervades the country at all levels stating this may not augur well for the nation.

The test for the legal year service was taken from the book of Daniel Chapter 7, verses 1-14 and the reading was taken by the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Ayotunde Phillips.

Governor Fashola said, “Our country is at great crossroads, facing enormous challenges that put to test our self governance and democracy.”

He said it is the law that regulates the society, especially when the country is faced with issues of national security and economic development, adding, “it is law that regulates man and guarantees his properties.” Home Page
