A middle-aged woman suspected to be a kidnapper (name not given) was on Monday attacked by an irate mob while trying to escape with her victims at Ile- Pupa, Iyana Church area of in Ibadan.
According to an eyewitness, Abraham Opajobi, the suspect attempted to lure two boys with biscuit into an uncompleted building.
Opajobi, who is a pastor, said, “She was found at an uncompleted building near a house where some kids where playing. She tried to lure the boys with biscuit but was caught in the process.”
The cleric added that the woman claimed to be on her way from vigil but was unable to mention the name of her church.
He said, “She told us that she was from Labiran, Beere area of Ibadan. She is a kidnapper and not a mad woman.”
The suspected kidnapper was beaten and stripped but was later rescued by the police.
A policeman at the Monatan Divisional Police Station, who craved anonymity, said the police were alerted by a distress call from a member of the public.
According to him, policemen rushed to the area, dispersed the crowd and rescued the woman from being lynched by the mob.
