A resident of Ungwan Zango in Bauchi State has told SaharaReporters that unidentified gunmen on a tricycle shot and killed at least five persons and injured several others last night.
According to the source, the gunmen arrived at the scene of the attack and began shooting at residents near a relaxation place where young people were socializing and playing card games in the night.
He said, “I saw five corpses of our own people, and we took them to ATBU Teaching Hospital, where we deposited their bodies.”
He added that the whole area has been thrown into confusion up to this morning, as gun shots rent the air leading many residents to flee their homes, escaping to nearby townships.
The secretary of Red Cross, Adamu Abubakar, confirmed the attacks, but said he is yet to determine the number of dead persons; however he said about nine people are receiving medical treatment.
No group yet has claimed responsibility of the attack.
