Two people were roasted to death on Friday when a 22 seater commercial bus crashed into a delivery van at a bus stop on the Mile12-Badagry expressway in Lagos.
It was gathered that eight persons aboard the bus sustained severe injuries. The Mile 12 bound vehicle that was fully loaded with passengers was said to be coming from Okokomaiko area of Ojo when it ran into a delivery van. The injured persons were rushed to a nearby hospital on Olojo Drive in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos while the mutilated bodies of the deceased persons were deposited at the mortuary.
A witness said the driver of the bus was trying to avoid a pot hole in the middle of the road when an Okada rider crossed his part, and in a bid to avoid them, ran into a delivery van.
“The Okada rider and his passenger ran under the bus and the jerry can containing fuel which they were carrying went up in flames,’’ the witness added.
The deceased persons were simply identified as Danladi and Okechukwu. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, blamed the incident on impatience on the part of commercial bus drivers.
She said rather than one of the drivers to wait for the other to pass, they started dragging for the only good portion of the road.
