Alleged drug trafficking: Kashamu asked to submit to probe

Senator Buruji Kashamu has come under fire from a section of Nigerians following his cries that there is an alleged plot by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to abduct him as well as plans by some individuals to assassinate him.

Kashamu claims that some top people in the NDLEA have strategised to either abduct him or to attack him on the streets or at a social function.

The senator representing Ogun east senatorial district in the National Assembly in a statement issued on Saturday, July 11, in Lagos alleged that the plot to abduct him was being coordinated by the NDLEA and some powerful individuals in the agency.

Kashamu has been having a drug-related case hanging on his neck and is widely believed to be wanted in the United States, but he has often maintained he is innocent and that he is only being persecuted.

Kashamu claims that some top people in the NDLEA have strategised to either abduct him or to attack him on the streets or at a social function.

However, the senator’s allegations that he is a target of the anti-drug agency have gotten a backlash from a section of Nigerians who have asked him to submit himself for trial over drug related charges or resign as a senator of the federal republic of Nigeria.

The commentators also accused the senator of not been fit to sit in the hallowed chambers of the National Assembly.
