Former President  Olusegun Obasanjo has attributed the present bickering among members of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the South West for the failure of the party to make any meaningful impact in the zone.

Obasanjo, who is also the immediate past Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustee, BOT, therefore, urged members to sheath their sword urgently and embrace peace now, in order for the party to recapture the region from the opposition by 2015.

Obasanjo who made the remarks at the Joint Annual General Assembly of the PDP, Lagos Chapter organised by the party’s Youth and Women Vanguard held at the National Art theathre, Lagos, said that factions within the party caused the South West PDP to lose some states to the opposition party.

If we sheath our swords in Lagos state now and embrace peace and unity, other things  will follow,” he said.

The former president added: “and in 2015 we will be able to capture Lagos state and other South Western states. And this is the aim of the Central PDP.”
