2 Docked For Stealing Television And Nokia Phone

A Magistrates’ Court on Thursday granted bail to two accused persons, Chima Oforkasi and Chigozie Nnamatu, both of Gishiri village, Abuja, charged with alleged conspiracy and theft.

Police prosecutor Buba Irimiya,told the court that on Oct. 15, one Julius Amogun, of the same address, reported the case to the Mabushi Police Station.

Irimiya said that the accused persons formed a common intention and allegedly stole the complainant’s television set and Nokia phone, valued at N21,500, and N5,000 cash.

The prosecutor said that during interrogation, the accused persons confessed to the crime which contravened the provision of sections 79 and 288 of the Penal Code.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them.

The magistrate, Mr Musa Jobbo, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100,000 each and a surety each in like sum.

Jobbo said that the sureties must be resident at a fixed and verifiable address within the jurisdiction of the court.

He adjourned the case till Nov. 5, for hearing.
