Niger State Police Commissioner Mrs. Desire Nsirim yesterday convened a peace meeting between the two groups involved in the planned impeachment of Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu.
It was gathered that those invited for the meeting were leaders of Concerned Citizens of Niger State and Talba Succeess Movement (TSM). They were invited with a view to ironing out areas of differences over a call and counter-call on the state house of assembly for the impeachment of the state governor.
Members of the Concerned Citizens of Nigeria had on Tuesday last week submitted 27 copies of written documents to state House of Assembly calling for the impeachment of Governor Aliyu while pro-governor Aliyu group, Talba Success Movement equally stormed the house a day after demanding the lawmakers not to entertain the call by the concerned citizens, it was also learnt.
Earlier, Chairman of Concerned Citizens of Niger State Maude Usman led the delegation of his group while the Talba Success Movement was led by its Coordinator Hamisu Jankaro.
A police source said the two groups were commended for peacefully presenting their positions to the house, and the police commissioner therefore advised that their members should allow peace to reign in the state.
