Housekeeper On Trial For Stealing Employer's Money

An Ojokoro Senior Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on Monday granted a 26-year-old house keeper and nursing mother, Goodluck Oluwakemi, a N100, 000 bail over alleged theft of N960, 000 belonging to her employer.

The accused is standing trial on a two-count charge of felony and stealing.

She, however, pleaded not guilty of the offences.

The police prosecutor, Lugard Ahonle, told the court that the accused had, on September 14 at 2.00 p.m., committed the offences at No. 56, Ipaja Road, Abule-Egba.

“The accused was asked by her master, Linus Anyanwu, to clean his room; and thereafter, a sum of N960, 000 was discovered missing,” he said.

He said the offences contravened Sections 278 and 285 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.

In her ruling, Magistrate F.F. Adeeyo granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case to December 3 for mention.
