Super Eagles midfielder, Nosa Igiebor who scored on his debut for the team has said that the present crop of players being groomed by coach Stephen Keshi needs more time to gel before they would be able perform to the level Nigerians want them to be.

Speaking after the match in Monrovia, the Real Betis FC of Spain newly signed midfielder stated that the team will grow into a dreaded side in Africa if only Nigerians would be patient with the coaches and allow them to complete what they have started.

He also expressed joy at scoring on his debut, vowing that he would continue to work hard to be in the starting line-up in subsequent games.

He was however quick to point out that that the slippery pitch did not bring out the best in the Eagles players in Monrovia.

“I don’t see the Liberians as a threat to our qualification for the 2013 Africa Nations Cup in South Africa. We are actually looking beyond the Liberians, and I can’t see them stopping us from going to South Africa. They were lucky to have squeezed a draw from us because we actually planned to whip them at their home.”

“As it is now, the technical crew members are still trying out a lot of players to know who and who fit into their plans, and I am sure that by the time they raise a regular side, we will have more cohesion and score goals freely. I believe we will perform better and get a much better result in the second leg.”

“ Nigerians have to be patient with us. What we need after scaling the qualifying hurdles is a couple of weeks closed camping to shock the continent in South Africa. I am confident that we can do it with the support of the NFF and Nigerians,” he stated.

Igiebor also reflected on his recent move to Spain, saying the offer was too good to reject.

“The move from Israel to Spain was a good one for my career, and I am ready to dig it out with some of the best in the La Liga.” Home Page
