Chief Tony Anenih refutes death rumours, says he's alive
Reports which say Chief Tony Anenih, a former Board of Trustees (BoT) chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is dead, have been refuted by the politician.
The respected politician who was fondly called 'Mr Fix it', according to Olumo Online, was said to have died in a private hospital in London at the age of 82.
He reportedly collapsed on Sunday morning while taking breakfast at his Durham Broadway private London house.
But in a swift reaction to the rumours about his death, the politician spoke with a blogger, Kemi Akinjare, said: "If I am dead, will I be tslking to you? I am alive and enjoying myself. I will not issue any press release. They will die before me. God will punish them. I will be back on Sunday."
Anenih acted as the state chairman of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) between 1981 and 1983, when he helped Dr Samuel Ogbemudia become elected as civilian governor of the old Bendel state.
He became the national chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) from 1992 to 1993, when he assisted in the election Chief M K O Abiola as president.
Anenih was a member of the PDM until early April 2002, when he transferred to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and masterminded the 26 April 2002 declaration of the President Obasanjo at the international conference center Abuja.
This report is coming on the heels of the political guru declaring that he has forgiven Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state.
Anenih said he has forgiven his foremost political foe and governor of Edo state, who he referred to as his son, adding that he decided to forgive all those who offended him, The Nation reports.
According to him, his health challenges and medical experience made him realize the need to rise above politics and embrace peace with all men.
He made the declaration at the 10th anniversary of St Anthony’s Catholic church, Uromi, where the governor and other prominent members were given an award for his services to the church.
