Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has given stunning revelation on what led to the row between him and his predecessor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Leadership reports.

The governor, who played host to state House of Assembly members at the state government House, revealed that his former boss insulted him and his parents because he believed that the government has not met his expectations.

According to him, Kwankwaso started abusing him and his parents when he accompanied him to his car, accusing him of not continuing his legacies of free education, foreign trips and others.

Ganduje further hinted that Kwankwaso had previously stated that he would not involve himself with the running of the state’s affairs, but promised that if the government fails, he would come back and change the government.

“That statement didn’t go down well with the present deputy governor, Professor Hafiz Abubakar, an instance, that prompted my deputy to query such unnecessary remarks,” he said.

Governor Ganduje, who alleged that some of the projects done by the former governor were dubious, added that he defrauded the people of the state.

Ganduje further hinted that if he should expose the manner his former boss handled the resources of the state, it would shock Kano indigenes.

He pleaded with the people of Kano and party’s supporters to continue to pray for his government to succeed as that is the only way to turn around the fortunes of the state.

The row between the incumbent governor and his former boss started when former commissioners under the administration of Kwankwaso went against Ganduje over his refusal to reappoint some of them, and also for not paying their severance allowance after serving the immediate past administration.

The cold war between commissioners who served under Kwankwaso and Ganduje have been lingering for some months now and had resulted to war of words over the local radio stations, sponsored by the commissioners.

The Nation reports that fourty-four Kano state legislators on March 15 angrily removed their symbolic red caps, as a symbol of their support to the incumbent governor, Ganduje, after falling out with his predecessor, Kwankwaso,

The state's lawmakers were led by the Speaker Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, the lawmakers decided to publicly show their support to Ganduje, as they wore different attires and caps, a departure from the dominant red cap, an identity of the Kwankwasiyya movement, the political slogan of the former governor.
