Two Injured In Lagos Multiple Accidents

No fewer than two persons sustained serious injuries in multiple accidents that occurred on Aboru Road, Iyana Ipaja, Lagos State, in the early hours of Tuesday.

Our correspondent, who visited the accident scene at Iyana Ipaja bus stop, learnt that a truck, with break failure, rammed into a stationary private car.

It was also gathered that during the process, a commercial bus driver, unaware by the accident, also ran into the two vehicles.

It was further learnt that the truck driver was said to have hit two persons and dragged them on the road over a distance of 20 metres, resulting in serious injuries.

The injured, whose names could not be ascertained, were rushed to a private hospital on Aboru Road for first aid treatment.

An eyewitness, who identified himself simply as Anthony, blamed the truck driver for the accident.

The witness said, “The truck driver apart from hitting a stationary vehicle, also hit two persons. He dragged them on the road for close to 20 metres. Whether they will survive is another thing.

“Sympathisers quickly took them to a private hospital. I learnt they were in a state of coma. I think the truck driver should be blamed. The accident could have been avoided if his brakes had not failed.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the Aboru Road had become notorious for accidents in recent times.

The Divisional Police Officer, Gowon Estate Police Station, Mr. Agba Nchor, confirmed the accident.

Nchor said the accident occurred by 12 midnight on Monday.

He added, “Nobody died in the accident. The people who sustained injuries have been released from the hospital. Those involved in the accident have reported to our station and we are investigating the cause of the accident.”
