515 Pilgrims Depart Lagos For Mecca

515 Pilgrims Depart Lagos For Mecca

About 515 pilgrims yesterday departed  Nigeria at the Hajj and Cargo terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos to Mecca, Saudi Arabia for this year’s hajj operations.

Vanguard gathered that the pilgrims were airlifted by Max Airline to Mecca this morning. Speaking to journalists, South-West co-ordinator  for this year’s Pilgrimage, Mr. Mub- arak Ismail, confirmed that pilgrims were airlifted this morning and added that the operations were going on smoothly.

Mr. Ismail said “about 515 pilgrims will be boarding Max Airways to Saudi Arabia for this year’s hajj and at the moment  we are still expecting more.’’

His assertion was coming few days after the Saudi authorities deported some Nigerians, particularly females, for not having guardians while performing the exercise in Mecca.

One of the pilgrims, Mr. Sikiru Onibudu  expressed his displea sure at this year’s hajj arrangement compared with what was obtainable in previous years.

He further noted that no official organising this year’s pilgrimage exercise furnished them with the needed information about the situation of things in Mecca.

However information reaching Vanguard reveals that members of the Nigerian Armed Forces will be airlifted to join other pilgrims in Saudi Arabia later today.
