Battle Of Liberia: No Deadline For Eagles 4 years ago 0

Super Eagles chief coach Stephen Keshi sneezed at suggestions that he would set a deadline date for the arrival of the country’s legion in Europe, insisting however that they are not kids.

Revealing this to SportingLife exclusively on telephone on Sunday night, Keshi stressed that he has been talking to the 11 Europe-based players that he picked to prosecute the country’s crucial first leg game between the Lone Stars of Liberia and the Eagles at the Samuel Doe Stadium in Monrovia on September 8, pointing out that as professionals, they know what is required when selected for international assignments.

“We must learn to appreciate what these players go through as professionals. Therefore, we will bear with them especially with the difficulties encountered in moving from Europe and other areas to Nigeria for matches.

“Going to the game, I’m happy that none of them sustained any strain or injuries in their club matches this weekend, which lightens the burden of looking for other options.

“I can tell that Victor Moses, Joseph Yobo, Echijile, Ideye and others I cannot remember now, will be in Nigeria Monday night. We are talking daily and I expect a full house of the players that I need to prosecute the Liberia game to commence training here in Abuja by Tuesday evening,” Keshi said. Home Page
