A house wife, Mariam Olokoba, on Friday urged an Ilorin Area Court to dissolve her five-year-old marriage over alleged childlessness and pressure from her husband’s relatives.
Olokoba of No.54, Agbo-Oba Area, Ilorin, told the court that she was married to Biliaminu Yusuf, in 2008, adding that the union produced no child.
She, however, added that the dissolution was not prompted by her husband but his relatives.
“I cannot withstand the pressure and threat put on me by my husband’s s relatives any more.
“The pressure has led to my having miscarriage twice and his relatives have capitalised on that to insult me and call me derogatory names.
“Since we got married in 2008, we understand ourselves but his people have come in between us on ground of childlessness,’’ she said.
The petitioner said that she vacated the respondent’s house four months ago, adding: “I still love my husband but I am fed up with the attitude of his relatives.’’
In his response Yusuf said that the petitioner listened to bad counsel from her relatives to pack out of his house with no just cause.
“She left my house packing all her luggage without my consent four months ago and I tried to convince her but to no avail,’’ he said.
The Judge, Mr Yusuf Abdulkareem, adjourned the case to Sept.6, for possible reconciliation.
He ordered the parties to come with three representatives each on the adjourned date
