The Kaduna Petrochemical Refining Company (KRPC) yesterday confirmed the death of two of its staff and one other passenger in an auto crash at Jere bridge along the Kaduna-Abuja expressway.
KRPC’s Public Affairs Manager Abdullahi Idris confirmed the incident, saying the incident on Friday around 8.30 pm. He gave gave the names of the victims as Jibril Suleiman, Deputy Manager, Finance, and his driver, while the third passenger was a nephew to Suleiman.
He said the victims were on their way to Abuja from Kaduna, when the Toyota Hilux in which they were travelling plunged into a river near Jere in Kagarko local government area of Kaduna State. He said that a rescue operation comprising divers and cranes were at the scene yesterday to recover the bodies of the victims and the vehicle.
One of the sympathisers, James Auta, said “Look at the bridge; it has no shoulders that will protect vehicles if they lost control. This is an old road before it was dualized. The bridge has been killing a lot of people because it has no shoulders”.
Kaduna FRSC sector commander Olagunju Olu Micheal could not respond to all calls put to him for enquiry about the incident.
