Seven Jigawa Traditional Rulers Die In Road Accident 4 years ago 75

Tragedy struck Dutse Emirate Council in Jigawa State yesterday when seven traditional title holders and four members of a trade union were killed when their bus ran into a pothole, somersaulted and crashed in Tsafe local government area of Zamfara State.

Secretary to Emir of Dutse Alhaji Wada Alhaji said four village heads and three ward heads died in the accident.

“Indeed the Emirate is in a mournful mood. Four elderly village heads, three ward heads and four other persons left for Kebbi State to attend the wedding ceremony of the village head of Kubo, Lawan Ubani. They ran into a pothole and their bus somersaulted and they were killed instantly.

“Those who died in the accident are village head of Kasarau Alhaji Umaru Muhammad, village head of Malamawa Musa Yususf, village head of Fagoj Ibrahim Yakubu and village head of Chaichai Garba Idris. They also include Wakilin Dagacin Danmasara Malanjo, Mai Angwan Marabisawa Nasiru Idris.

“Others are Alhaji Umaru Kwalliya, Alhaji Ibrahim Ali, Secretary Jigawa Traders Union Alhaji Garba Hausawa, Chairman Jigawa Okada Riders Association Alhaji Garba Akawu and Alhaji Abdu Zobe Kachi. And they have since been buried according to Islamic rites. The Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi, sympathize with families of the deceased and prayed to Allah to grant them al- jannat firdausi”

Malam Muhammad Nakuku, one of the survivors who spoke to Daily Trust at Rasheed Shekoni Specialist Hospital, Dutse said their driver lost control when he ran into a pothole at Tsafe and their 18-seater bus somersaulted and killed 11 people. Nakuku, who sustained an injury in his right hand, said it was a miracle that he and the three others survived.

Muhammad Idris, younger brother to late Nasiru Idris, Mai Angwan Marabisawa, said he spoke with his brother after the dawn prayer and he asked him to pray for their safe trip. “When I spoke with late Alhaji Nasiru after the dawn prayer, little did I know I was speaking with him for the last time. He left behind four wives and twenty children. May Allah have mercy on them”.

Meanwhile, Speaker, Jigawa House of Assembly, Alhaji Ahmed Adamu has condoled Dutse Emirate over the death of some traditional rulers in an auto crash yesterday.

During a condolence visit to the Galadima of Dutse and deceased families, Adamu  described the incident as tragic and prayed to God to forgive all the sins of the deceased and grant them paradise. Home Page
