Logistics delay Saintfiet’s resumption, says NFF 4 years ago 0

NEWLY appointed Technical Director of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Tom Saintfiet, will no longer assume his duties immediately as earlier announced by the NFF.

The NFF executive board in its last meeting ratified the recommendations of its technical committee by announcing the appointment of Saintfiet, as the technical director of Nigerian football.

However, two weeks after the appointment, the Federation was yet to officially communicate with the former technical adviser of Ethiopia and Namibia of his appointment, just as the Federation has not arrived at any date of resumption for the technical director.

The Guardian gathered that the delay in communicating and announcing a resumption date to the 38-year-old Belgian was because the Federation has not put all the necessary logistics in place to enable Saintfiet begin work.

Part of the four-year deal, as revealed by the NFF, includes the provision of accommodation in a highbrow area of Abuja, an official car, as well as securing resident and working permits for the Belgian.

Head of the NFF Technical Department, Emmanuel Ikpeme, told The Guardian recently that the Federation would soon communicate officially to the new technical director, stressing that it was addressing certain internal issues that would encourage him to succeed in developing Nigerian football.
