PDP BOT removes Bello as chairman

- Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) sacks Mohammed Bello as its chairman

- Announces Senator Walid Jibril, BOT secretary, as acting chairman

Members of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today February 10, voted to remove Mohammed Haliru Bello as the acting chairman.

Sahara Reporters report that Bello is alleged to have shared money from the $2.1 billion arms scandal popularly refereed to as Dasukigate.

Bello reportedly collected N300 million from the former national security adviser, Dasuki during 2015 election.

Senator Walid Jibril, BOT secretary,  who announced Bello's removal during a meeting with journalists in Abuja  added that his tenure had also expired.

Jubril explained further that Bello was elected to the position for only three months and that he had overstayed the period given to him.

"The BOT unanimously appointed Walid Jibril as the acting chairman while still remaining as the substantive BOT secretary," he added.
