Suspected assassins murder Benue cleric

MAKURDI—A cleric with the Methodist Church at Ago Otukpa, in Ogbadigbo Local Government Area of Benue State, Rev Michael Ejeh was, Tuesday, slaughtered by unknown persons in a bush, about two kilometres from the church where he had gone the previous day to pray for the congregation.

Wife of the deceased, Charity Ejeh who spoke to Vanguard, yesterday, at Ago village on the  killing  of her husband, said the deceased had gone to a Deliverance Ministry owned by one Prophet Moses Ujah at Odebe before he was later discovered dead in a bush where he had gone to ease himself.

Some of the deceased colleagues  expressed shock over the way he died, adding that  the deceased was a gentle and easy going person. According to them, there was more to what happened than meets the eye.

According to sources, Rev Ejeh after prayers on the fateful night had decided to sleep in Odeba as it was late for him to return to Ago.

Prophet Ujah was said to have accepted to host the late reverend after which he ordered two of his pastors to sleep with him at the ministry’s office, only to be found dead the following morning in a bush. His body has since been deposited at a mortuary in Otukpa even as his host had been detained by the police.

Meanwhile, efforts are said to be in top gear by the Enone Diocese of Methodist Church to unravel the cause of the death of Rev Ejeh, given the mysterious circumstances surrounding the issue.

Attempts to get the reaction of the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO in the state, Mr Philip Agena failed as his deputy,  Ejike Alaribe  said that he was in a meeting.
