Blackburn Rovers are set to sign Jordan Rhodes after Huddersfield accepted an £8 million bid for the Scotland international striker.
Rhodes is due at Ewood Park for a medical and Rovers hope he will be able to make his debut in Saturday’s trip to Leeds. The £8 million bid was their fourth offer for Rhodes and should conclude a summer-long pursuit of the prolific 22-year-old.
Rhodes scored 40 goals last season to help Huddersfield win promotion from League One and opened his Scotland account in the 3-1 win over Australia earlier this month.
He has two goals in two games for the Terriers this season and 87 in 148 games since joining from Ipswich in 2009.
Blackburn lost last season’s top scorer Yakubu to Guangzhou and then saw his replacement, the £3 million Newcastle striker Leon Best, be ruled out for six months with a cruciate knee ligament injury.
The Portuguese teenager Edinho led the line in last week’s 2-1 win over Leicester as Colin Kazim-Richards, who had scored in their first two league games of the season, was also sidelined.
