The Kano State police command has discovered an arms factory at Hotoro Quarters in the metropolis, barely two weeks after the military Joint Task Force (JTF) in Kano said it had killed the spokesperson of the Boko Haram sect.
According to the state police commissioner, Alhaji Ibrahim K. Idris, the items recovered yesterday at the arms factory include 2 AK-47 rifle, 2 pistols, 2 bags of TNT, readymade improvised explosive devices [IEDs], remote-controlled bombs, gas cylinders, welding machine and one Tiger generating set.
The police commissioner added that 1 Lister generating set, 3 motor vehicles, 90 rounds of live ammunition, drilling machine, 100 detonator heads, pyrotechnics and some welding equipment were also recovered during the raid.
Alhaji Idris further said the command appreciated the timely information from members of the community, adding a thorough investigation of the area would continue.
Last week, the JTF claimed it had killed 35 suspected Boko Haram members in a crackdown on the insurgent group in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
