Anambra beefs up security as president visits

ALL is set for President Goodluck Jonathan’s one -day visit to Anambra State tomorrow with security already beefed up in the commercial town of Onitsha where he will commission many projects.

He will also visit the Aguleri Otu in Anambra East local government where he would commission the Orient Peteroleum Resources facilities.

The Assitant Inspector General of Police, AIG, in charge of Zone 9, Umuahia has already mobilized all the commissioners of police in the zone whose men are temporarily posted to Anambra State for the purpose of the visit.

Governor Peter Obi has also been visiting all the projects to be commissioned by the president to ensure that everything was in order.

Speaking, Wednesday, Obi said the facilities to be commissioned by President Jonathan  will generate at least 1500 direct jobs and over 10000 indirect jobs.

The governor, who led a delegation of members representing the state in the House of Representatives on inspection of the projects to be commissioned by the President, said his administration was empowering private sector initiative and entrepreneurs because they had the potentials to create necessary employment that would turn around the economy of the state.

He made it clear that any economic growth without stimulating  job opportunities was bound to collapse, adding that it was for that reason that he encouraged private sector participation in the industrialization of the state One after the other, the elated federal lawmakers commended the governor for stimulating economic growth in the state.

The member representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency, Mr. Afam Ogene observed that the governor has created conducive and enabling environment for foreign and local investments to thrive. He said  the governor had taught other leaders a good lesson on the need to look inwards to harness available resources to build the economy.

The member representing Anaocha, Njikoka and Dunukofia federal constituency Mrs. Uche Ekwunife said Governor Obi had initiated economic revolution in the state, explaining that the various investments attracted to the state by the governor would go a long way towards providing permanent solution to the challenges of unemployment and assured him of the continued support of the National Assembly in repositioning the state to be a principal actor in national affairs.
