Panic At National Theatre As Hoodlums Storm Centre

Suspected hoodlums sparked chaos at the National Arts Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos, after several spectators lost their valuables on Friday, December 25.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports on the unpleasant incident that occurred between 4:30pm and 5pm, when suspected hoodlums and pickpockets caused a stir at the National Theatre.

According to witnesses, the theatre became engulfed in panic after people ran in different directions following the activities of the offenders.

Some of the suspected hoodlums were detained by the officers of the National Theatre Post, however, it's still unknown what exactly caused people's behaviour.

On December 30, 2014, it was reported that the National Arts Theatre had been sold to a Dubai-based conglomerate for the sum of $40 million, and that the building will be converted to a duty-free shopping mall.
