The four men alleged to have murdered 25-year-old Cynthia Osokogu, a postgraduate student, were on Monday remanded at the Ikoyi prisons by a Yaba Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
The defendants – Okwumo Echezona, 33; Ezike Olisaeloka, 23; Orji Osita, 32 and Maduakor Chukwunonso, 25 are facing an eight-count charge of armed robbery, murder, using illegal substance and rape
“I hereby remand the defendants in the prison, pending the outcome of the legal advice from the state’s Director of Public Prosecution," the magistrate, Mr Olalekan Aka-Bashorun said.

Cynthia, the daughter of retired Maj.-Gen Frank Osokogu, was reported to have met two of the defendants on a social media network and came from ajos to see them in Lagos, where they allegedly murdered her.
The prosecutor, SP Chukwu Agwu, told the court that the defendants, between 9:00 p.m. on Aug. 21 and 12 a.m. on Aug. 22 unlawfully killed Osokogu.
"The 25-year old lady was given an obnoxious substance, known as "Rohypnol Flunitrazepam tablet" via a ribena fruit juice drink.
"Her hands were bound with chains and padlocks as she was beaten and strangled to death.
"The defendants, while armed with weapons, unlawfully had sex with Udoka (Cynthia) and robbed her of her valuables," Agwu said.
The prosecutor also said that the obnoxious substance was purchased at Oxpharm pharmacy, situated at 32 Road, Festac Town in Lagos.
Agwu said that the incident occurred at Cosmilla Hotel, Lakeview Estate, Amuwo Odofin, Festac Town in Lagos.
He said that the offence contravened Sections 221, 231, 237, 241, 258, 295 and 409 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
Aka-Bashorun adjourned the case to Oct. 3, for mention.
