I Was Almost Killed For Exposing Corruption Adamawa - Isa
Abdurrahmah Abubakar Isa, a lawmaker from Adamawa state alleged that he was almost kidnapped by the suspected agents of the state government for daring to oppose to the diversion of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s bailout fund which meant for the settlement of salary arrears.
Isa, who is now taking refuge in Abuja, narrated to journalist how he was trailed by suspected assassins on November 14 to a guest where he had gone to hide following the attempted abduction.
The lawmaker was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress and represent Mubi South constituency in the state Assembly explained that he was allegedly placed on three months suspension for challenging the executive arm, Leadership reports.

Isa who also doubled as the chairman of Finance, Budget and Appropriation in the Assembly had sent a passionate appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari and the inspector general of police, Solomon Arase to save his life from the hands of assassins for trying to expose alleged corruption practices in the state.
He said: “I learnt from very reliable sources that the government was planning to kidnap and kill me. So, I left my house and relocated to a guest house but four men in unmarked black jeep that looked like those of the Government House still traced me in the evening to the place I was hiding. I thank God who used some people in the apartment to help me escape death."
The lawmaker disclosed that trouble started when he opposed to the further borrowing of N4.706 billion from a commercial bank at 9% interest when the government had already borrowed N2.379 billion from the same bank without waiting for the release of CBN bailout fund.

Isa added that he questioned the request and also the planned diversion of bailout fund to other capital projects which he noted was not capture in either in the state budget or did the governor requested for a supplementary budget as requested by law.
He went further to claim that his life and that of his family members who are still in Yola, the state capital is in danger following his decision to oppose the extra-budgetary spending.
Isa pleaded that he was only advancing the anti-corruption crusade of the Buhari’s administration to the state and did not mean any harm to anyone.
