Dasuki's Suit Against FG Postponed

A Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned hearing on a suit filed by a former national security adviser Sambo Dasuki over threat to his life.

Having called the case, the judge over the matter, Ademola Adeniyi asked for the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) who he summoned on Friday, November 13.

But the solicitor general Taiwo Abidogu who is also the lead prosecutor and a representative of the AGF said he has not been briefed on the activities of the ministry of justice following his swearing in.

Taiwo said, the AGF will be resuming on and will need time to familiarize with activities at the ministry of justice.

He also asked for the adjournment of the case to stating that he has discussed with his learned colleagues.

But the defending counsel said it should be put into consideration that his client's health is under jeopardy.

The judge noted that the will be an all Nigerian judge's conference .

Adeniyi however adjourned the case for on Monday, November 23 with consents of the counsels.

Dasuki had earlier filed a suit against the FG government over threat to his life.

He sought that the court order the Department of State Security (DSS) to remove all barricade around his residence in Asokoro, Abuja.

The suit against the Nigerian government came after the court had granted the former NSA permission to travel abroad for the treatment of cancer, an order flouted by the DSS.

But the DSS at a hearing on Friday, November 13 had also argued that Dasuki's travelling will interfere with ongoing investigations on him.

Counsel to the DSS said interference was not needed especially with emergence fresh cases of money laundering against the former NSA.

But Adeniyi however replied that it is only a healthy person that can face prosecution.

Meanwhile, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari should be held responsible if anything happens to Dasuki.
