‘STF Not Responsible For Jos Footballer’s Death’ 4 years ago 1

The Plateau State Special Task Force (STF) has denied involvement in the death of a footballer in Jos.

The Media and Information Officer of the STF, Captain Mustapha Salisu, said some youths were going round the city in a bus on Tuesday throwing stones at people, and that they were apprehended, and later released. He said it was after they were released, that they got involved in an accident.

The local football team, Simba Boys, had alleged on Wednesday that the team returned home from a friendly match in a neighbouring village, Magama Gumau in Bauchi State, and were singing victory songs when members of the STF stopped their vehicle and asked them to come down.

They further alleged that because they declined to come down from their vehicle, an official of the STF ordered the bus driver to follow two STF vehicles to a military outpost at Jossy Royal Hotel along Zaria road.

The team alleged that they were beaten by the security operatives, after which according to them, one of the team members, Jamilu Musa, was knocked down and crushed to death by a vehicle on the highway after they left the STF to pick their own vehicle parked some distance away. Home Page
