Legit.ng has outlined 5 reasons why Mama Taraba was chosen as Nigeria's minister of women affairs. Read below:

1. She is a mass mobilizer: Since she joined politics in 2011 and contested as a senator and won in her state, Mama Taraba has been known to be a mass mobilizer of women. Apparently aware that women and youths dominates the voting population in her state and indeed Nigeria, Mama Taraba seized the opportunity and built her political base around the women. Her mobilization skills round the state earned her the title ''Mama Taraba''.

2. Her rising political profile: It is no longer news that Mama Taraba was declared the winner of the April 11 governorship election in Taraba state, thus making her Nigeria’s first female governor-elect. While she awaits the verdict of the appeal by the Taraba state governor, Mama Taraba will be in the cabinet of President Buhari and be the leader of women in Nigeria, thereby boosting her political curriculum vitae.

3. Role model for female politicians: Mama Taraba's recent achievement has automatically made her a role model for female politicians in Nigeria. President Buhari no doubt wants to tap into her popularity and use her as a weapon to strengthen his political base especially as women are concerned.
