Nigerian Army Clears IEDs Off Roads

The Nigerian army has said it has cleared Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) buried along the road that links new Marte-Dogongida-Kerenowa in Borno.

Vanguard reports that this was revealed in a statement by Col. Tukur Gusau who is the media coordinator of operation Lafiya Dole, in Maiduguri on Wednesday November 11.

President Muhammadu Buhari urged the military to put an end to Boko Haram fight by the end of the year and the soldiers are putting efforts to make this possible.

Gusau said: “The 5 Brigade of the Nigerian Army after clearing Boko Haram terrorist camps in Kerenowa in Borno, has also embarked on clearance of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) buried along the road that links New Marte-Dogongida-Kerenowa in the state.

“The troops have also been working tirelessly to destroy all IEDs making facilities found in the area,”

He also added that the military was able to arrest 5 suspected Boko Haram terrorist at Gudunbali in Baga local government area. He said military offensive also resulted in the rescue of a family who were abandoned by terrorists. This was carried out by troops of 115 task force battalion under 7 brigade multinational joint task force.

“The family includes a woman and four children; they are currently being catered for and investigated in a military facility.”

Some months ago, the Nigerian Army uncovered Boko Haram bomb-making factory at an abandoned chemistry laboratory at Dikwa college of education in Borno state.
