Exclusive: Senator Ita Giwa Speaks On Being A Grandmother

Senator Florence Ita Giwa is one of Nigerian politician and socialite. She was elected Senator of Cross River South constituency, Cross River state at the Nigerian fourth republic on the platform of All People’s Party (APP) and held office from May 1999 to May 2003.

Speaking with Legit.ng, at the Yemi Alade Collection launch, Ita Giwa whose daughter, Koko, welcomed a baby in the US on August 24, expressed her joy at being a grandma for the fourth time.

She said: “It’s not my first time being a grandma, I have been one a long time ago, and I would be 70-years soon so I see myself as a very old grandma. One thing is, I am always excited to have new grandchildren and this is my fourth so I count it as a blessing.”

Koko married husband Chiamobi Shawcross on Saturday, September 22, 2014.

Ita Giwa also spoke on her reputation as a fashion icon, saying she enjoys making fashion statements and loves looking good and timeless.

 

She said: “Fashion is all about stepping out the way you feel, wearing what you like and looking good in them because I love to look good. Also, you have to be clean inside out not just on the outside and also to feel beautiful inside out. I always like to leave that legacy that at any age you can look good. You are timeless and you have to grow to look timeless as well. I am tired of being young, Koko is young.”

She also said she loves supporting young entertainers.

I am very happy and humbled but I try as much as possible to give them all the support anytime I am called upon,” she said.
