Daily Sun reports that Mrs. Oshiomhole got to the camp at about 10 am and spent several hours with the IDPs. She joined them in the several exciting games, fed and danced with the children who were happy and excited with her presence.

The First Lady explained that she decided to move the party to the camp because it would be difficult for the children to travel to Benin for the main occasion that is scheduled for Thursday, November 12.

Addressing the displaced persons, Mrs Oshiomhole said:

“It is my pleasure to be here with you. I am very happy to be back and to see you all again. As I promised the last time I was here, I promised to come back and to get to know the children a little bit better. Today is that day and that is exactly what we are doing. Our goal for today is just to have fun, talk with the children, play with the children and enjoy ourselves.

“We are here to celebrate my husband’s seventh anniversary in office.”

She also assured the displaced persons that the state government is committed to their welfare and would continue supporting them.

“The government of Edo State is very aware of the circumstances that made you all leave your homes. We hope that soon, Nigeria will be safe all over so we can all return to our various homes.”

“However, while waiting for that day, the government of Edo State will do its best to make the camp a more enjoyable one for you,” she added.

A month ago, Mrs Oshiomhole made a generous donation on behalf of the state government for the upkeep of the IDPs at their camp in Uhogua. While visitting the camp, she donated the sum of N2 million and presented clothes, footwear, books, toiletries and others materials for displaced persons.
