2016 Olympics: NFF Fines Siasia

Nigeria U-23 coach Samson Siasia has been fined N500,000 and given a final warning by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over his comments on the team's preparations for the Africa U23 Nations Cup in Senegal.

[article_adwert] Africanfootball.com reports that Siasia was ordered to apologise to the media also for revealing he and his team are owed three months salary.

An official who made the revelation to africanfootball.com said the coach's attitude to the NFF has remarkably changed since he was addressed privately the officials of the governing body.

Siasia claimed the U-23 team have been abandoned and not ready for the Africa U23 Nations Cup in Senegal later this month.

It was further reported that Eagles assistant coach Salisu Yusuf has been placed on standby to lead Dream Team VI to Senegal in the NFF decides to wield the sack axe. .

The Africa U23 Cup of Nations will be played in Senegal from November 28 to December 12. Nigeria are drawn in Group B at the U23 Nations Cup along with Egypt, Mali and Algeria.

The top two teams will advance to the knockout stage of the competition with the best three teams qualifying automatically for Rio 2016.

Four years ago, Nigeria failed in Morocco to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics.
