Oyerinde: Police, SSS To Harmonise Case Files 4 years ago 1

The police yesterday said all suspected killers of Olaitan Oyerinde, former principal private secretary to Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomhole as well as their alleged sponsors in its custody will soon be charged to court after harmonizing their case files with those of suspects arrested by the State Security Service (SSS) on the same matter.

Oyerinde was attacked and killed in his residence in Benin, Edo state between 1 and 2pm on May 4, 2012 while four Blackberry phones, one Nokia phone two laptops and two galaxy tabs and money were stolen from his house.

The SSS said it arrested six suspects over the case.

The police spokesman, chief superintendent Frank Mba said investigators led by deputy commissioner Chris Ezieke confirmed that the killers said they were sponsored by one Reverend David Ugolor who promised them N20 million.

Ugolor alongside Garba Usman Maisamari who allegedly received the sum of N200, 000 as part payment and mobilized the killers were in police cell. Mba said those that actually participated in the killing namely Moses Okoro, Murtala Usman, Auta Umar Ali and Danjuma Moses were arrested.

Umar Adamu Duna who provided the killers with a motorcycle and two local guns as well suspected buyers of Oyerinde’s property Idris Abdulhahi and Hassan Aliyu were also with the police.

Mba said the suspects were arrested after one of the Blackberries phones stolen from the victim was traced to one Mohammed Baba Yawa in Gerei Local Government, Adamawa state who confessed to buying it from Abdulhamid.

Meanwhile the Deputy Director Public Affairs (SSS) Marylyn Ogar said they have transferred all the six suspects they have arrested in connection to the murder to the police Special Anti Robbery Squad in Area 10 Abuja at about 4pm yesterday.

The suspects are Mohammed Ibrahim Abdullahi, Raymond Onajite Origbo, Chikezie Edeh, Saidu Yakubu, Sani Abdullahi Abubakar and Hassan Bashiru. Home Page
