The State Security Service yesterday paraded suspects arrested over the kidnap of two foreigners and those arrested over the killing of Olaitan Oyerinde, the Private Secretary to Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole side by side after the Service was accused of recycling suspects.
The Action Congress of Nigeria had alleged that the SSS paraded suspects arrested over the abduction of two expatriate engineers on March 3 as suspected killers of Oyerinde on August, wearing the same clothing.
Bashir Ibrahim, Ibrahim A. Habibu and Gambo Maiburodi who were paraded March 3 while Mohammed Ibrahim Abdullahi, Raymond Onajite Origbo, Chikezie Edeh, Saidu Yakubu, Sani Abdullahi Abubakar and Hassan Bashiru who were paraded on August 1 were re-assembled yesterday.
The Deputy Director Public Affairs (SSS), Marylyn Ogar who paraded the suspects before journalists in Abuja said the exercise was aimed at correcting the public perception and that it wasn’t in the attitude of the service to recycle suspects. The suspects in both cases were not the same though they wear same clothes, she said adding that the SSS feed and provide cloth for suspects under its custody.
